Graduate Students Please check out the "Current Funding Opportunities" tab for funded positions for which I am hiring, and read the below text for general information about working with me.
I view my graduate advisees as colleagues first and foremost. As such, I expect a high degree of collaboration, communication, and rigor from these students.I advise and sit on the committees of graduate students at a variety of levels in the Political Science Department (PhD, MA, MPA) and Graduate Program of Hydrologic Sciences who are interested in environmental/water policy, natural resource management, hazards/disaster policy, local government policymaking, public policy theory (particularly Advocacy Coalition Framework and Narrative Policy Framework), and mixed methods approaches. I also regularly sit on dissertation and MA/MS committees for students in other departments who have an environmental policy component to their graduate research. I also am open to co-authoring research in my areas of expertise with qualified graduate students both within and outside of UNR.
If you are a graduate student interested in working with me through any of these avenues, please contact me by email (ekoebele [at] unr.edu). Include your CV and a description of the program that you are enrolled in or intend to apply to. Please note that I do not make admissions decisions, and all students must meet minimum entry requirements for the program in which they seek to enroll.
Undergraduate Students I am happy to work with undergraduate students who are good communicators, critical thinkers, and self-guided researchers. I prefer to work with students who have taken at least one class with me and have demonstrated high-quality work. I advise undergraduates through UNR's Community-Based Research Program, the McNair Scholars program, and the Honors College (thesis and course credit options). I occasionally have paid or credit-based hourly positions available for highly-motivated, advanced undergraduates. If you are interested in working with me, please first check out funding opportunities through the UNR Undergraduate Research Office, and then contact me by email (ekoebele [at] unr.edu) with your resume and a description of the research you are interested in conducting.
